Strengths: They have extremely powerful jaws and teeth (described by Jack as “shark-like”, immense physical strength, and all have a slight telepathic link meaning they can sometimes feel each other’s emotions even at a distance.
Weaknesses: Torchwood 3 had a special spray to control the Weevils, but it has never been explored as to what this spray is or where they got it from.
Other Information:
- Mark Lynch believed that the Weevils might be descended from humans, at a point in the future when, "all that is left is rage" ('Combat'). However, Torchwood believes, from early research, that the Weevils are in fact not related to any species on Earth in present day.
- Weevils have ‘washed up’ on Earth through the Rift for thousands of years, and Torchwood Cardiff believed they had been seen in the such places as the sewers of 4th century Byzantium and 1930s New York. The Torchwood Institute had known about them since the 1950s. However, the 1930s sewer report of Weevils could have actually been the Pig-Slaves that the Daleks created (DW: 3.4/5 'Daleks in Manhattan' / 'Evolution of the Daleks').
